Solar-Induced Fluorescence Model Intercomparison Project

  • The goal of this working group: I’m currently helping Nick Parazoo (NASA JPL), Alex Norton (U Melbourne), and Troy Magney (U California Davis) to organize the second Solar-Induced Fluorescence Model Intercomparison Project (SIF-MIP2). This is an effort to compare the representations of chlorophyll fluorescence in land surface models. It is similar to SIF-MIP1 in focusing on tower-scale simulations, but is expanding the temporal and spatial scales of analysis.

  • Opportunities to contribute: You can find a summary of the SIF MIP in the May 2023 issue of GEWEX Quarterly, ‘The Need for SIF in Integrated Carbon-Water Cycle Assessments’ (here). If you are interested in participating, we’d love to include your model results for synthesis, publication, and archiving - please reach out to me or any of the other organizers. Our contact details are all listed on the GEWEX Global Land-Atmosphere System Studies (GLASS) Panel’s page summarizing the SIF MIP (here).
